Clarification regarding footage from Oleshky

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinetz officially refuted information about the movement of Russian military equipment in the Oleshky area during the implementation of the truce regime. His comment concerns video materials published by the British broadcaster Sky News and circulated on the internet.

“In the video published online, Russian equipment with red crosses is conducting demining of approaches to Oleshky under the control of the Ukrainian side,” Lubinetz emphasised.

Position of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the enemy was using the humanitarian pause to strengthen its positions. The relevant statement noted that during the truce regime, the rotation of Russian units, the reinforcement of positions, the expansion of anti-drone measures on roads, and the intensification of logistical operations, including the delivery of ammunition, had been recorded.

When publishing the video, Sky News accompanied it with the comment: “footage from Ukrainian drones confirms Russia’s use of the humanitarian ceasefire in Oleshky to transfer troops and equipment.” It was this report that became the subject of the Ombudsman’s denial.

Statements from the Russian side and Kyiv’s reaction

It is worth noting that today Dmytro Peskov stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine also took advantage of the ceasefire to move troops. The command of the Ukrainian army did not react to these claims and did not comment on them.
