Misconception about the employee's origin

A discussion has erupted on social media regarding an incident that took place at the "PIED-DE-POULE" beauty salon in Warsaw. The story was published by a user on the Threads platform under the handle valerii_7_. According to her, she chose this establishment because she wanted to support Ukrainian businesses abroad. The woman had previously used the services of this chain and was satisfied with the results.

The client noted that the appointment for the procedure was made in Ukrainian, and the administrator communicated with visitors in Ukrainian, Polish, and Russian. During the haircut, the hairdresser spoke very little, limiting herself to short answers.

Outrage after reviewing the stylist's profile

After visiting the salon, the woman found the hairdresser's profile on Instagram. There, she saw information stating that the woman had studied in Russia in 2022. This caused outrage among the client, who expected that specialists working at a Ukrainian establishment would share her desire to support Ukrainians abroad.

«Я йду в український салон. Хочу підтримувати українців за кордоном» ("I am going to a Ukrainian salon. I want to support Ukrainians abroad"), the woman wrote in her post. She also raised the question of whether salons should warn visitors about the origin of their employees.

Public reaction and the establishment's comment

In the comments to the publication, users' opinions were divided. Some supported the client, believing that visitors have the right to be informed about the employees of an establishment that positions itself as Ukrainian. Others emphasised that the fact of having studied in Russia does not in itself indicate a person's political views.

Later, one of the commenters clarified that the hairdresser's name is Dina and that she is a citizen of Belarus. It was also claimed in the comments that the woman had supported the protests in Belarus in 2020, although there is no independent confirmation of this information.

The publication MOST contacted the salon for a comment. They confirmed that the employee is indeed from Belarus.

A representative of "PIED-DE-POULE" explained that people of various nationalities live in Warsaw, so the salon employs specialists from different countries. According to her, there is no requirement to communicate with clients exclusively in Ukrainian.

«Вони розмовляють тією мовою, якою їм зручно, яку всі розуміють» ("They speak the language that is convenient for them and that everyone understands"), the establishment's representative noted.

She also added that the employee feels comfortable at work and that the dispute on social media has not affected her professional activities.

«Те, що в Threads, залишається в Threads» ("What is in Threads stays in Threads"), the salon's representative concluded.
