Ukrainian consumers have the opportunity to purchase book courses by Russian linguist and TV presenter Dmitry Petrov. His publications are available on popular online platforms such as Prom.ua and Rozetka, as well as in the specialised store Poliglot. Meanwhile, the author himself continues to live in Russia, where he actively engages in publishing and public activities.
These facts are presented in an investigation by the publication "Glavkom".
The general public became acquainted with Petrov thanks to the popular television programme "Poliglot" on Russian TV, where he demonstrated his own methodology for learning foreign languages. Based on this project, the Russian publisher "Eksmo" began releasing his book courses.
In 2012, the Centre for Innovative and Communicative Linguistics was established in Moscow, headed by Petrov. After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he did not stop publishing books, giving lectures, and holding other public events within the Russian Federation. At the same time, Petrov did not publicly condemn the Russian invasion.
Ukrainian online marketplaces feature Petrov's courses in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, and Chinese. Publications intended for foreigners learning the Russian language are also available.
According to "Glavkom", at least six sellers list Petrov's books on the Prom.ua platform: IT-BAZA, "Charyivna Maisternia", Znai Bilshe, "Buksukar", "Bukvaid", and BIGBOOKS.UA. Prices for the publications vary depending on the language: the Ukrainian-language version of the English course costs 329 hryvnia, while the Russian-language variant is offered for 540 hryvnia.
In the product listings on Prom.ua, the publisher is listed as "Tsentr Dmityriya Petrova" (Dmitry Petrov Centre), not "Eksmo".
A separate section titled "Publishing House 'Tsentr Dmityriya Petrova'" (Publishing House 'Dmitry Petrov Centre') also exists in the specialised store Poliglot.com.ua. There, 12 books are presented. Some product cards explicitly state that the products belong to a publisher registered and operating in Russia.
According to data from the State Committee of Television and Radio, in August 2026, more than 600 titles of Russian and Belarusian publishing products were sold on Ukrainian online marketplaces. In July of the same year, the agency reported over 400 such titles, a significant portion of which was listed on Prom.ua and Rozetka.
In total, since April 2024, according to the State Committee of Television and Radio, the distribution of approximately 11,000 titles of such products has been halted.
However, despite the existing restriction policy, the State Committee of Television and Radio's sanctions measures still do not extend to Dmitry Petrov's books.
