The Ukrainian side has yet to receive specific information from the United States on how the Pentagon plans to utilise $400 million in military aid. These funds are allocated to Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This was stated by Denis Senyk, the Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in the US.
He emphasised that despite previous reports by US Senator Chris Coons that the Pentagon had already spent nearly all contracted funds, Kyiv has no confirmation of concluded agreements or specific funding directions.
According to Denis Senyk, the Ukrainian side repeatedly attempted to clarify the situation by contacting US representatives in Wiesbaden and the US Department of Defense. However, clear answers have not been received.
(We have no confirmation from the US side or NATO — specifically from NSATU in Wiesbaden — regarding where the funds are, which contracts have already been signed or will be signed, and what exactly these funds will be directed towards. In other words, there is essentially no information about what is happening), Senyk explained.
The diplomat stressed that Ukraine expects to receive detailed information from the US on the allocation of funds and a list of contracts.
The specified funding could cover a number of critically important needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, this refers to the procurement of ammunition, material and technical support, and the maintenance of F-16 fighter jets.
(We need everything: ammunition, material and technical support. It concerns a number of contracts, in particular regarding the maintenance of F-16 aircraft. This is a significant amount. We would very much like to receive answers to our questions and an understanding of when and what exactly these funds will be used for. This is extremely important), Denis Senyk added.
