Autogas prices up 23%: petrol and diesel now cost almost the same

The costs for Ukrainian drivers for daily commutes have risen sharply. In under two months, the price of main fuel types increased by 13–23%. The autogas market was hit hardest, with prices rising by 23.2%, while petrol and diesel fell within the 13–23% growth range.

How much it costs to drive 100 km

According to the calculations provided, the cost of a 100-kilometre trip depends significantly on the engine type and refuelling method. Petrol and diesel vehicles now cost almost the same to operate.

  • Petrol: approximately 635 UAH per 100 km. The average price of A-95 is 90.73 UAH/litre, approaching 95 UAH at some filling stations.
  • Diesel: approximately 621 UAH per 100 km. The average price per litre reaches 103.43 UAH, hitting 106 UAH at certain stations.
  • Autogas (LPG): approximately 530 UAH per 100 km. The average cost is 52.98 UAH/litre.
  • Electric vehicle: approximately 78 UAH per 100 km with home charging. At fast commercial stations, costs can reach 396 UAH.

The difference between petrol and diesel transport has narrowed to 14 UAH per 100 km. Autogas remains the cheapest among traditional fuel types, yet it recorded the highest percentage price increase.

Price dynamics in the market

Over the last ten days, the price of autogas rose by 6.54 UAH, reaching a level of 52.98 UAH per litre. Diesel fuel at individual filling stations already costs 106 UAH per litre, while A-95 petrol is approaching the 95 UAH mark.

Such price increases affect the finances of both private drivers and businesses reliant on road transport.

Annual fuel costs

For a vehicle with an annual mileage of approximately 20,000 kilometres, estimated energy costs are distributed as follows:

  • Petrol car: 127,000 UAH;
  • Diesel car: 124,000 UAH;
  • Autogas car: 106,000 UAH;
  • Electric vehicle with home charging: 15,600 UAH.

These calculations are indicative. The actual amount depends on the specific fuel consumption of the vehicle, driving style, current filling station prices, and electricity tariffs. Maintenance, repair, insurance, and vehicle purchase costs are not included in the comparison.

Reasons for price increases

Price increases are explained not only by changes in the exchange rate. According to the data provided, the dollar rate changed by only 1.1%, while fuel prices rose by 13–23%.

Possible factors include the situation in the global fuel market, high logistics costs, and Ukraine's dependence on petroleum product imports. The combined impact of these factors determines purchase prices and the final cost of fuel at Ukrainian filling stations.

For owners of vehicles with high annual mileage, this means a noticeable increase in the operating budget. Meanwhile, electric vehicles with home charging remain significantly cheaper than internal combustion engine vehicles.

It was previously reported that in Bukovina, a woman suspected of selling low-quality diesel fuel at a filling station in the settlement of Putyla will stand trial. According to the Bureau of Economic Security (BES), from July 2025 to May 2026, she sold drivers fuel of dubious origin disguised as high-quality, although testing revealed non-compliance with state standards. The indictment under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has already been sent to court.
