Traffic on Kyiv's Southern Bridge to be restricted until 1 November due to repairs

Authorities in the capital have informed the public about repair works on the Southern Bridge. Drivers should expect temporary restrictions from 27 October to 1 November. These measures are being implemented to update the asphalt concrete surface on the viaduct section of the structure.

Details of traffic restrictions

As reported by the Kyiv City State Administration on 26 October, citing data from the municipal enterprise "KyivavtoShlyakhMost", the works will affect the section where traffic moves from the right bank of the Dnipro to the left, in the direction of Mykola Bazhan Avenue.

Repair works will begin at 07:00 on Tuesday, 27 October, and will continue until 17:00 on Sunday, 1 November. During this period, passage will be restricted for vehicles travelling from the right side of the river to the left.

Traffic organisation during works

According to information from "KyivavtoShlyakhMost", specialists will work on the third lane and partially on the second. This means that only the first lane of traffic will remain available for passage.

Due to the narrowing of the carriageway on this section, traffic congestion is possible, especially during peak hours when the load on the infrastructure is highest.

Recommendations for drivers

Representatives of the municipal enterprise apologised for the temporary inconvenience and called on drivers to take these changes into account when planning their trips. Drivers are advised to plan their route in advance, allow extra time for the journey, and monitor official announcements from city authorities regarding current traffic organisation.

After the completion of the planned works, that is, after 17:00 on 1 November, traffic on the Southern Bridge is expected to return to normal mode.

It is worth noting that restrictions on traffic on the Southern Bridge during air raid alerts were recently announced. This decision was made by the Capital's Defence Council. During such periods, buses on routes No. 22 and No. 91 will temporarily operate via the Darnytskyi Bridge, while traffic in the opposite direction will remain unchanged. Passengers are recommended to check route numbers, as the detour may increase travel time.
