Canberra's stance on energy supplies

The Australian government has confirmed that it has no intention of purchasing Russian fuel. This decision was made even against the backdrop of Donald Trump's decision to return Russian energy resources to the global market. The main argument was the desire not to give Russia the opportunity to gain financial benefit in the context of the war in the Middle East.

Energy minister's comment

This was stated by Australian Energy Minister Chris Bowen.

«Ми не хочемо, щоб Путін отримував вигоду від війни на Близькому Сході» ("We do not want Putin to benefit from the war in the Middle East"), he emphasised.

Status of strategic reserves

Despite refusing Russian supplies, the Australian side notes that current reserves allow for meeting the country's needs in the short term. According to Chris Bowen, existing petrol reserves will last for 43 days, while diesel fuel reserves will last for 31 days.
