According to Tajani, the perpetrators have been spreading his personal information for several days and are actively seeking additional data. The minister emphasised that such actions create new threats for him and constitute a form of intimidation. He paid particular attention to the fact that the hackers are involving his family in their activities, ready to pay for obtaining information about him and his relatives.
"Cybercriminals have been spreading my personal data on the darknet for several days and are looking for other information, effectively exposing me to new threats and intimidation. They are also dragging my family into this, ready to pay for additional information about me and my loved ones," he stated.
Tajani underlined that he would not stop his activities under pressure and would continue to fulfil his duties to protect the interests of his ministry and the country.
The Foreign Minister believes that the reason for such actions is his political stance in support of Ukraine. He asserts that defending the freedom of a sovereign state and clearly supporting democracy and national independence have become dangerous for these criminal groups.
"Our position on Ukraine is the political reason why I have come under fire: defending the freedom of a sovereign state, a clear stance in favour of democracy and national independence is dangerous for these criminal groups," the head of the Foreign Ministry emphasised.
