Drones attack Lukoil terminal on the night of 29 January

On the night of 29 January, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) delivered a successful strike on the Lukoil oil terminal in Kostovo, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia. 

All four drones reached their targets, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing sources in the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The attack occurred around midnight local time. Witnesses recorded at least three explosions on the facility's premises, although sources claim there were four strikes.

The oil terminal sustained significant damage, as all attacking drones reached their targets. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Counter-Disinformation Centre, noted that the damaged facility has a processing capacity of 15 to 17 million tonnes of oil per year, making it the fourth largest object of its kind in Russia. Kovalenko emphasised the importance of this oil depot for the Russian army.

The facility produces petroleum products, including petrol, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene and bitumen.
