Defence Ministry begins production of modern FPV drones

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has begun producing modern FPV drones at one of its state-owned enterprises under a licensed production arrangement. 

The ministry’s press service stated that this step became possible thanks to the state’s integration into production chains, which allowed for a detailed understanding of drone costs and their competitive advantages in the market.

According to Ivan Havyryuk, First Deputy Minister of Defence and Lieutenant General, this approach will ensure improved product quality through healthy competition and the creation of sustainable production conditions.

The pilot project, which began in December last year under the joint leadership of the Main Directorate for Defence Innovations of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, marked an important stage in the production of coded FPV drones. Under this project, a private developer granted a licence to manufacture unmanned aerial vehicles at one of the state-owned enterprises under the Ministry of Defence’s jurisdiction.

In addition, specialists from the Main Directorate for Defence Innovations prepared a roadmap for organising similar production facilities and, together with other UAV developers, drew up plans to expand production.

Yuriy Taranuk, Head of the Main Directorate for Defence Innovations, reported that the Ministry is ready to expand cooperation with the private sector and has a set of standard documents and a step-by-step guide for launching similar production lines at other state-owned enterprises.
