Germany wants to send Ukrainian refugees home

Kathrin Ebner-Steiner, leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) faction in the Bavarian parliament, stated that Ukrainian refugees should return to their homeland immediately.

According to Sueddeutsche Zeitung, the AfD faction accuses the Christian Social Union (the partner of the Christian Democratic Union, which governs Bavaria) of "right-wing deviations" and "empty talk" on migration issues.

Ebner-Steiner said that only the "Alternative for Germany" is capable of putting Bavaria back on the "right path" and freeing the state from the "influence of outdated party structures". To prevent the "overcrowding of the country by people who receive benefits and do not want to integrate", the party advocates for full re-emigration.

This position includes the deportation of all criminals and foreigners who do not have legal grounds for staying in the country, as stated in the parliamentary group's official "plan for the future".

In response to questions about the situation of Ukrainian refugees, Ebner-Steiner stated that they must leave the country immediately, as Ukraine is "large and has enough territory" for them to return to.

A recent Bayerntrend poll showed that the AfD faction lost one percentage point since the last survey in November, with its rating standing at 16%. Nevertheless, the party remains the second most influential in Bavaria, although it significantly trails the CSU, which is supported by 42% of voters.
