Prosecutor General's Office charges lawyer Andriy Fedur

This morning, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine charged well-known lawyer Andriy Fedur, who has defended numerous high-profile politicians and businessmen during his career. The lawyer himself is now under investigation.

Andriy Fedur is accused of threats. Moreover, Fedur allegedly threatened not just anyone, but a PGO investigator.

Andriy Fedur himself is convinced that the case was opened against him for a completely different reason. The lawyer has been defending one of his clients too well and effectively, and some prosecutor's office employees have their eyes on the client's assets.

A court hearing to determine the preventive measure for the human rights defender took place today.  A judge of the Pechersk District Court in Kyiv refused to make a decision and postponed the hearing to the morning of 3 April.

How tomorrow's hearing at one of Ukraine's most scandalous and corrupt courts will end for the lawyer remains to be seen. But one hopes that this case will receive publicity and everything will proceed according to the law, rather than to suit someone's interests.
