Jean-Claude Van Damme at centre of human trafficking scandal

Hollywood actor Jean-Claude Van Damme has become a suspect in a human trafficking case. Romanian investigators claim that around ten years ago he used the services of underage girls who were forced into prostitution. According to the prosecution, the incident took place in Cannes.

According to lawyer Adrian Cuculis, the case is linked to a large-scale human trafficking investigation being conducted in Romania. The main suspect is Romanian businessman Morel Bolya, owner of the modelling agency Kasta Morrely and president of the non-profit organisation EuroDemos. In 2022, he was arrested on charges of forcibly involving girls in the sex industry.

A 26-year-old Romanian woman claims that as a teenager, she and four other minors were victims of this scheme and were forced to provide intimate services in Cannes, including to the actor.
