Zelensky: Starlink restrictions in Ukraine remain in effect, Trump to speak with Musk

Head of state Volodymyr Zelensky emphasised that the speed limits established for Starlink satellite internet terminals, which amount to 161 km/h, remain in effect on the territory of Ukraine. He added that the country understands the technical aspects of lifting these restrictions but hopes for active assistance from SpaceX and the US administration.

Assessment of the threat from Russia

In his address, the President noted that Moscow has the potential to mobilise an additional 300,000 military personnel. He also warned of a possible intensification of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, cyberattacks, and other hybrid pressure methods.

According to Zelensky's assessment, the key strategic goal of the Russian Federation is to force European states to shift their attention to their own security, reduce support for Kyiv, and fracture unity within the European Union.

Donald Trump's position

US President Donald Trump stated that he was not aware of the existing restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine, but expressed readiness to examine the situation.

Among other key points from the American leader:

  • Trump confirmed that he had not yet had a conversation with Elon Musk on this issue, but noted that he could contact him if the problem remains unresolved. At the same time, he added that he had heard about the resolution of the situation.
  • The US leader stated that he did not know who specifically ordered the restriction of Starlink's functionality and emphasised that he would not disclose this information even if he did know.
  • Trump characterised Musk as a "very good person", expressing conviction that he would not do anything harmful regarding Ukraine, calling him a fair individual.
  • Commenting on the situation with Iran, the US President stated that the United States, if it wished, was capable of taking all Iranian oil and seizing the country. He also expressed the opinion that the Strait of Hormuz belongs entirely to the US.
  • "I am sorry to say this, but we have all the aces," Trump noted, referring to a similar formulation he had previously used in the context of communication with Zelensky.
  • During a dialogue with a female journalist, the US President first urged her to calm down, and then called her a "terrible little journalist".
  • Trump stated that the First Lady of the United States would not participate in the trilateral peace negotiations, but added that the idea itself was not the worst he had heard.
