Confirmation of the death of the soldier-writer

Hnivane City Council released information about the death on the front line of 26-year-old serviceman Oleksiy Degtiaiev, known by the callsign "Liova". In addition to his combat duties, he was the author of poems and prose works.

Oleksiy was born in the Vinnytsia region. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 25 February 2022, the second day of the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion. At that time, he had just completed his conscript service.

Combat path and positions

The defender began his service in the infantry. Later, his profile changed, and he became an unmanned aerial vehicle operator. His combat experience covered several directions: Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Donetsk regions.

In the later stage of his service, Oleksiy took the position of machine gun squad commander in an assault company. He also participated in the training of other servicemen.

Personal life and dreams

Outside the army, Oleksiy devoted time to literary activity, creating poems and prose. Among his personal aspirations were building his own house and starting a family. The warrior also expressed hope that his younger brother would not have to take up arms.
