Forced restrictions due to damage to infrastructure facilities
Following Russian shelling that caused damage to energy infrastructure, electricity consumption restrictions were introduced in some regions of Ukraine on 6 October. According to Ukrenergo, these measures will be in effect from 15:00 until the end of the day. An increase in the overall load on the power grid is also being recorded.
Situation in the regions and restoration work
New power outages were recorded in the morning hours in Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. In areas where the security situation permits, specialists are already carrying out emergency restoration work.
In some regions, capacity restriction schedules will be forcibly applied to industrial consumers from 15:00 until the end of the day, while hourly outages will be implemented for all categories of consumers. The volume of restrictions will amount to up to the first stage.
Increased consumption and advice from energy workers
Ukrenergo urged consumers to use electricity economically while restrictions are in effect. After electricity supply is restored according to the schedule, it is not recommended to switch on several high-power appliances simultaneously.
According to the company, electricity consumption at 09:30 today was 2.9% higher than at the same time on the previous day. The increase is linked to cloudy weather in a significant part of Ukraine, which causes household solar power plants to operate less effectively.
The previous day, 5 October, the evening consumption peak was 1.7% higher than the maximum indicator of the previous working day, 2 October.
Energy workers advise shifting the use of high-power appliances to the period from 10:00 to 15:00, when solar generation operates most effectively.
Monitoring the situation
Outage schedules for a specific address can be checked on the official resources of the distribution system operator in the respective region.
Ukrenergo emphasised that the situation in the power grid may change due to Russian attacks. Consumers are advised to monitor the latest announcements from their regional energy company.
