Residents of western Poland received a false notification regarding a Russian air attack in Ukraine and the operation of Polish aviation. As it turned out, the message was intended for another region — the one located directly on the Ukrainian border.
Details of the incident
The Government Centre for Security of Poland (RCB) officially reported this error. The alarm signal, which is usually activated during air threats, was sent on Monday evening to residents of Lubuskie Voivodeship. This administrative unit is located in the west of the country and borders Germany.
In reality, the warning was meant for the population of Lublin Voivodeship, located in eastern Poland, in close proximity to the border with Ukraine.
Government reaction
RCB representatives acknowledged the technical error in the distribution and publicly apologised to those who received incorrect information.
This incident occurred against the backdrop of active Russian strikes on western regions of Ukraine, which caused heightened concern about the possibility of the air threat spreading to Polish territory.
