Leadership change at the University of Internal Affairs

The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, which currently operates in the city of Kropyvnytskyi, has changed its leadership. Serhiy Vitvitskyi has resigned from the post of rector. According to the institution's response to an information request from the publication "Dostup. Media," Serhiy Hermanov was appointed to perform the duties of the head from 9 October 2026.

Who will temporarily head the institution

Serhiy Hermanov previously worked as a deputy rector of this university. He holds the rank of police lieutenant colonel and the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The university clarified that the specific reasons for Vitvitskyi's dismissal, as well as the timeframe for appointing a permanent rector, fall within the competence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and therefore were not disclosed by the institution.

Comments from the former rector

Serhiy Vitvitskyi himself, in a comment to a journalist from "Dostup. Media," explained his resignation by stating that he received a promotion and is moving to work in Kyiv. He has not yet named his new position.

According to Vitvitskyi, the university plans to present the new permanent rector this week. He emphasised that it will be a different person, not Serhiy Hermanov. Vitvitskyi did not name the future head.

According to the data from his 2025 declaration, Serhiy Vitvitskyi earned 1,224,000 hryvnias in his position as rector. In addition, he received 1,000 hryvnias in UBD payments and 20,000 hryvnias from the monetisation of a subsidy.

His wife declared a salary of 91,300 hryvnias and a gift from the director of the enterprise where she works, valued at 470,000 hryvnias.
