Accusations of free transfer of resources

US President Donald Trump reiterated his claim that the United States received no benefit from the $350 billion spent on supporting Ukraine and European partners under the country's previous leadership. He voiced these conclusions on 27 October during a pre-election rally held in the state of Texas.

Stance on restoring the army and payment for weapons

According to the American leader, his administration has restored the US Armed Forces. In contrast, he believes that the 46th US President, Joe Biden, “gave away a significant part of them”. Trump emphasised that financial compensation should have been demanded for such supplies, as European countries have the resources for this.

«Ми відновили збройні сили. А Байден роздав значну їх частину. Треба було брати за це якусь плату. Це ж Європа. Вони можуть заплатити», — сказав американський лідер. (We restored the armed forces. And Biden gave away a significant part of them. We should have charged for it. It is Europe. They can pay.)

He underlined that the current authorities already demand payment from European allies for the supply of weapons, referring to the operation of the PURL programme.

Comment on financial losses and thanks to the special envoy

Trump added that although allies transfer weapons to Ukraine and other countries, they now pay the US for it. In his view, Biden could have demanded such payment but gave away $350 billion without compensation, and the only result was that allies “consider us fools”.

«Гадаю, вони передають озброєння Україні чи комусь іще, але вони нам платять. Байден міг про це попросити. Він віддав $350 мільярдів, і ми так нічого й не отримали за це, окрім того, що вони вважають нас дурними», — додав Трамп. (I think they are transferring weapons to Ukraine or someone else, but they are paying us. Biden could have asked for that. He gave away $350 billion, and we got nothing for it, except that they consider us fools.)

The US President also expressed his gratitude to his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, for his peace efforts.

«Спецпосланець Стів Віткофф домагається величезних успіхів. Дякую, Стіве», — додав він. (Special envoy Steve Witkoff is achieving huge successes. Thank you, Steve.)
