Freeze on military action until November
United States President Donald Trump made a statement emphasising that Washington will not carry out bombings of Iran until 3 November. This date coincides with the day of the midterm elections in the US. According to the American leader, "productive negotiations" are currently underway with the Islamic Republic.
Tehran's position under blockade pressure
Trump noted that Iran is in an extremely difficult situation, both economically and militarily. He linked this to the full blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The US President emphasised that oil is passing through the strait in record volumes, yet not a single barrel is being supplied from Iran or directed towards it.
«Нафта протікає рекордною кількістю барелів через Ормуз (22 мільйони барелів лише минулої ночі, причому жодного бареля не надходило з Ірану і не прямувало до него!)» (Oil is flowing through Hormuz in a record number of barrels (22 million barrels just last night, with not a single barrel coming from Iran or heading to it!)), Trump emphasised.
Guarantee regarding the nuclear programme
Concluding his statement, Donald Trump underlined that Iran will not have nuclear weapons. These comments came against the backdrop of ongoing diplomatic efforts and an assessment of the current military and economic state of the Iranian state.
