The leaders of the US and Israel held a phone conversation, during which they focused on the current state of diplomatic dialogue with Iran. The main topic was the discussion of the possibility of returning to active combat operations and determining the timing for when this might occur.

Different positions on escalation

According to insiders, Benjamin Netanyahu insists that the United States resume strikes on Iran after the mid-term elections in the US. However, Donald Trump currently intends to let the negotiations develop. This approach by the American President causes concern for the Israeli Prime Minister.

The nature of the conversation is assessed differently: an Israeli source described the communication as "hard", while an American insider described it as "direct".

Washington's dual strategy
