The Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office has completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted an indictment to the court regarding eight individuals who were part of an organised criminal group. They are charged with establishing a network for the manufacture and sale of counterfeit clothing, which was passed off as products of well-known global brands. According to the investigation, trademark owners suffered financial losses of almost 98 million hryvnia.
Mechanism of the criminal scheme
According to law enforcement agencies, the criminal activity lasted from August to December 2025. To mass-produce clothing, the offenders set up two specialised production workshops. The assortment included jackets, tracksuits, hoodies, and other items. To create the illusion of authenticity, branded labels and tags with markings of famous trademarks were attached to the products.
Sales channels and financial operations
The sale of counterfeits took place through an extensive network. Customers could purchase goods at physical retail outlets located in Lviv and Busk, as well as place orders online via the social networks Instagram and Telegram, marketplaces, or their own website. Delivery was carried out to various regions of Ukraine. To conduct financial operations, the offenders used accounts of several individual entrepreneurs.
Results of searches
During investigative actions, law enforcement officers discovered and seized a significant amount of evidence: over 4,000 units of counterfeit clothing, approximately 26,000 forged labels, and more than one million hryvnia in cash.
Procedural status
The pre-trial investigation in this criminal case was conducted by detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine. Currently, all materials regarding the eight defendants have been sent to the court for a trial on the merits. In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, all defendants are considered innocent until their guilt is proven in the manner established by law and confirmed by a guilty verdict of the court.
It was previously reported that in Mykolaiv, law enforcement officers uncovered another large-scale production of counterfeit clothing and footwear involving the unauthorised use of markings of famous global brands. According to preliminary data, the value of the seized products and equipment exceeded 50 million hryvnia.
