Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski officially announced the inclusion of a Ukrainian politician on the list of undesirable persons in the Republic of Poland. According to him, the decision was made regarding Sviatoslav Sheremeta, who holds the position of head of the culture committee of the Lviv Regional Council.

Grounds for the decision

The main motive for such measures was the MP's initiative to declare 2027 in the Lviv region as the "Year of Roman Shukhevych, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, and Oleg Olzhych". This proposal was supported at a session of the Lviv Regional Council held on 20 October.

Warsaw's position

Radosław Sikorski published information about the signed order on his account on the social network X. In his statement, he called Sviatoslav Sheremeta a "reconstructor of the Waffen-SS 'Galicia'" and the author of the idea to declare 2027 the year of R. Shukhevych.

«Я підписав клопотання про внесення до списку небажаних осіб у Республіці Польща депутата Львівської обласної ради С. Шеремети – реконструктора «Галичини» Ваффен-СС, автора ідеї проголошення 2027 року роком Р. Шухевича, командира УПА, який віддавав накази про виселення і вбивство поляків» ("I signed the petition to include S. Sheremeta, an MP of the Lviv Regional Council – a reconstructor of the Waffen-SS 'Galicia', the author of the idea to declare 2027 the year of R. Shukhevych, a UPA commander who issued orders for the deportation and killing of Poles, on the list of undesirable persons in the Republic of Poland"), wrote the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry.
