Energy crisis in the occupied peninsula
On the night of 24 October, a large-scale power outage was recorded in occupied Crimea. Representatives of the occupation administration appointed by Russia reported damage to energy facilities outside the peninsula, which led to power cuts in many settlements, including Sevastopol.
Reaction from Russian officials
The first to report power supply disruptions were Mikhail Razvozhaev, the Moscow-appointed "governor" of Sevastopol, and Oleg Kryuchkov, an adviser to the so-called "head of Crimea". According to Ukrainian sources, electricity was cut off across almost the entire territory of the peninsula.
Mikhail Razvozhaev stated that Sevastopol was completely left without electricity due to an attack on energy facilities located outside the city. Oleg Kryuchkov initially reported an accident in the power grids outside Crimea, and later announced that power supply to the peninsula had been restored.
Strike on a key node
The operational headquarters of Russia's Krasnodar Krai reported a night strike on a substation in the settlement of Biloye in Temryuk district. Open data indicates that the large "Taman" substation is located in this area.
This facility is one of the key nodes of the energy bridge through which electricity is supplied from mainland Russia to occupied Crimea. The substation has previously been subjected to strikes on multiple occasions.
Current situation status
At present, there is no official confirmation of all the circumstances of the attack or the exact scale of the damage inflicted. However, the Russian side has reported that electricity supply to Crimea has already been restored.
