MP Serhiy Kozyr: Russia deliberately targets five substations to cause a complete blackout in Kyiv

Russian occupiers continue the systematic destruction of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, focusing their efforts on completely depriving Kyiv of electricity. This was stated by MP and member of the parliamentary committee on energy issues, Serhiy Kozyr.

Enemy targets: the capital's energy ring

According to the MP, five 330 kV substations are currently under the sights of Russian forces. It is these facilities that form the so-called energy ring, which ensures a stable supply of electricity to Kyiv.

Many of these critically important facilities have already sustained damage. The process of their restoration is complicated by two main factors: repeated enemy strikes and the need to temporarily disconnect the substations from the grid during repair work.

The enemy's goal is not just restrictions, but a complete blackout

Serhiy Kozyr emphasised that the enemy is consciously pursuing the goal of not just reducing the duration of power supply, but achieving a complete power outage.

«Дві години світла на добу? Гаразд, таке можливо. Ми ж розуміємо, що ворог і надалі завдаватиме ударів. Його мета — досягти не двох годин на добу, а того, щоб електрики взагалі не було» (Two hours of light a day? Fine, that is possible. We understand that the enemy will continue to strike. Its goal is to achieve not two hours a day, but no electricity at all), the MP stressed.

In addition to the energy crisis, the MP drew attention to risks for other municipal systems. He noted that problems with water supply, which may arise against the backdrop of energy attacks, threaten a collapse of urban life in the capital.
