Law enforcement agencies in the Lviv and Zakarpattia regions documented two cases of offences committed by military personnel. One of them attempted to offer an improper benefit to an official, while the other demanded money from a civilian for influencing the activities of the Territorial Centre for Conscription and Social Support (TCCSS). Both suspects have been detained, and the courts have selected appropriate preventive measures for them.

Attempted bribery of a Military Law Enforcement Service official in Lviv region

In the Lviv region, operatives from the Strategic Investigations Directorate recorded an attempt to bribe the head of the department of the Lviv Zonal Department of the Military Law Enforcement Service (MLES). According to the investigation, the serviceman offered him $2,000 as an improper benefit.

In exchange for this money, the official was supposed to allow the man to leave the MLES premises without being handed over to the command of his military unit. Thus, according to the investigation, the serviceman intended to avoid returning to service.

However, the official reported the corrupt offer to law enforcement officers. After the actual transfer of money, the suspect was detained, and the funds were seized. Investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police (MDNP) in the Lviv region notified the man of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — offering an improper benefit to a public official.

Extortion of $6,000 for influencing the TCCSS in Zakarpattia

The second incident was documented in Zakarpattia. The figure in the case is a senior sergeant of the Uzhhorod District Territorial Centre for Conscription and Social Support (TCCSS). According to the investigation, in June 2026, he left his military unit without permission.

Law enforcement officers established that the man demanded $6,000 for influencing officials of the Uzhhorod TCCSS. For this amount, he promised to arrange the removal of a liable person from the wanted list, the deletion of relevant data from the register, and the updating of information in the "Oberyh" system.

Operatives from the Strategic Investigations Directorate in the Zakarpattia region detained the figure at the moment of receiving the money. Investigators from the MDNP in the Zakarpattia region notified him of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 3 of Article 369-2 — abuse of influence;
  • Part 5 of Article 407 — unauthorised leaving of a military unit or place of service.

Preventive measures and procedural supervision

The courts selected preventive measures for the suspects. One was assigned night house arrest, while the other was remanded in custody with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 266,240 hryvnias.

The operations to expose the offences were conducted jointly with the SBU Military Counterintelligence, internal security units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Military Law Enforcement Service. Special forces from KORD were involved in conducting the searches.

Procedural supervision in these cases is carried out by the Lviv and Zakarpattia Specialised Prosecutors' Offices in the Sphere of Defence of the Western Region.

In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, both figures are considered innocent until their guilt is proven in the legal manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
