Confirmation of detention by authorities

Montenegro's Prime Minister Milojko Spajić officially announced the detention of Mykhailo Zvynchuk, the founder of the well-known Russian military Telegram channel "Rybar".

Government stance on European integration

Commenting on the incident, the head of government emphasised that the country continues its path towards Europe despite external pressure. According to him, attempts at hybrid influence and destabilisation of the situation in Montenegro are ongoing in parallel with this process.

«Ми вже попереджали, що спроби гібридного впливу та дестабілізації Чорногорії тривають і відбуваються паралельно з нашим рухом до Європи. Чорногорія відстоює свої інтереси, і ніхто не зможе поставити під сумнів наше європейське майбутнє» (We have already warned that attempts at hybrid influence and destabilisation of Montenegro are ongoing and are happening in parallel with our movement towards Europe. Montenegro is defending its interests, and no one will be able to question our European future), stated Milojko Spajić.

Previous actions of the detained individual

Even before his detention, Mykhailo Zvynchuk was actively publishing information on social media. He claimed that he had managed to cross the Montenegro border despite existing sanctions and an entry ban. According to Zvynchuk, at the checkpoint he encountered aggressive behaviour from a border guard, whom he called a "f***ed-up border guard". Zvynchuk added that the border service officer "rummaged through all his pockets but failed to check the database".

Following this incident, the founder of "Rybar" held a live broadcast on SolovyovLive media, already being on Montenegro's territory. During the stream, he stated that Russian citizens in the country had begun to face persecution, using the word "tormenting".
