Accusations of coup preparation
Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Madyar has levelled serious accusations against former head of government Viktor Orban. According to the current cabinet leader, Orban's actions and public speeches indicate the preparation of a coup d'etat. Madyar explicitly threatened the former leader with life imprisonment.
Reaction to calls for resistance
The cause of the conflict escalation was Viktor Orban's earlier statements. The politician declared the opposition forces' readiness for "national resistance" against the current authorities. In addition, he mentioned the possibility of providing protest participants with "appropriate tools, blunter for some, sharper for others". It was these words that triggered the new Prime Minister's sharp response.
Return to political struggle
It is worth noting that Viktor Orban had previously officially announced his return to active political struggle against the government formed by Peter Madyar.
