Le Pen: France will be the first to suffer from Ukraine's EU accession

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen expressed the conviction that France will be the first country to suffer from Ukraine's accession to the European Union. The politician emphasises potential threats to the domestic agricultural sector.

Threat to French farmers

According to Le Pen, Ukrainian food producers will create excessive competition for French peasants. She described such competition as unfair, citing the scale of the Ukrainian agricultural market.

Financial risks for Paris

In addition to market pressure, Le Pen warns of changes in financial flows. In her view, Ukraine's integration could alter the distribution of funds within the framework of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The French politician believes that France's share in financing this programme could be significantly reduced.

Negotiations on the agricultural issue

Agriculture remains one of the most sensitive aspects of the process of Ukraine's accession to the EU. In Brussels, possible transitional mechanisms and restrictions on certain types of Ukrainian products are being discussed to facilitate the adaptation of the European market.

Kyiv, in turn, insists on full integration into the EU single market and expects equal conditions for its agricultural sector after acquiring the status of a Union member.
