Significant personnel reshuffles are taking place within the State Tax Service (STS). As reported by journalist Yevhen Plinsky, Hryshyna Bozhenko, head of the excise department, is terminating her employment with the agency by mutual agreement. Along with her, one employee of the risk department is also leaving the tax service.
According to Plinsky, the initiators of the personnel changes were Yurii Koniushenko, the acting head of the STS, and Finance Minister Marchenko. The journalist links Bozhenko's dismissal to several factors. First, there was a failure in the collection of excise payments in October. Second, there are suspicions regarding the official's possible ties to a group that the author of the material calls “Monaco”.
Plinsky emphasises that the reason for the dismissal was not only problems with budget revenues but also the probable involvement of the head in tax schemes.
The journalist's sources in law enforcement agencies report preparations for large-scale measures in the field of excise taxation. In particular, attention is being paid to the tobacco and alcohol markets. Against this backdrop, according to Plinsky, Yurii Koniushenko is trying to distance himself from the activities of Hryshyna Bozhenko.
The journalist also reminded that Prime Minister Koretskyi holds weekly meetings with representatives of security agencies and members of parliament dedicated to combating tax schemes. The goal of these meetings is to achieve an increase in tax revenues by eliminating illegal mechanisms.
Plinsky predicts active actions at various levels of government, in which not only representatives of the Bureau of Economic Security will participate. He links these steps to the political necessity to demonstrate public action against criminal syndicates.
Separately, the journalist claims that the current Marchenko team in the tax service is trying to shift responsibility for corrupt practices and illegal schemes that existed under previous leadership to former STS head Kravchenko and his appointed head Lesia Karnaukh.
According to Plinsky's forecast, new personnel decisions and law enforcement measures related specifically to the excise direction of the STS's activities are expected in the coming weeks.
