Halyna Herha, who is a co-owner of the Epitsentr building hypermarket chain, was spotted wearing an exclusive Breguet Reine de Naples 8918 watch. This accessory is distinguished not only by its modern design but also by its deep historical heritage, linked to the name of Caroline Murat — the younger sister of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Queen of Naples.

The history of the Reine de Naples line

The name of the Reine de Naples collection, which translates from French as "Queen of Naples", is dedicated to Caroline Murat. She was the wife of Joachim Murat, a Marshal of France who later received the title of King of Naples. According to Breguet, Caroline was one of the most loyal clients of the watchmaker.

Between 1808 and 1814, she purchased 34 watches and mechanisms from the master. It was her 1810 order that prompted the creation of the first known watch designed specifically for wearing on the wrist. For Caroline, an ultra-thin, elongated device with a repeater and thermometer was made, which was attached to a bracelet woven from hair and gold threads. The order was placed in 1810, payment was made the following year, and the final completion of the work took place in 1812.

Technical specifications and cost

The model worn by Halyna Herha features a 36.5 × 28.5 mm case made of 18-karat white gold. The watch is equipped with the automatic Breguet 537/3 calibre, with a power reserve of approximately 45 hours.

The design is adorned with precious stones: the bezel, the outer part of the dial, and the winding crown are covered with diamonds. An additional accent is a pear-cut diamond located at the 6 o'clock position.

The exact cost of a specific version of the Breguet Reine de Naples 8918 depends on the configuration and the condition of the mechanism, as the manufacturer does not set a single retail price for all variants. Meanwhile, individual new samples are offered for approximately 48,000 euros. On the secondary market, some 8918 models with white gold and a mother-of-pearl dial can be found for prices starting from 20,000 dollars. In Ukrainian currency, the value of such an accessory can reach 2.3 million hryvnia.
