FIFA considers Russia's return to the international stage

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated the need for all countries to participate in international football. He made this statement during a meeting of the International Football Association Board (IFAB), emphasising that football must remain outside of politics.

FIFA may exert pressure on European federations

According to journalist Naël Lanza, FIFA may use its influence over national federations, particularly those reliant on the organisation's financial support. It is assumed that Infantino intends to secure a review of the position regarding the admission of Russian teams and athletes to international tournaments.

At present, the majority of European football federations maintain a strict stance on this issue. However, potential pressure from FIFA could lead to discussions on the conditions under which Russian teams could return to participating in international competitions.
