European Solidarity has officially expelled Oleksiy Honcharenko from the faction. As noted by the political force, the decision to end their joint political path with him is linked to disagreements on issues concerning the end of the war and Ukraine's future security architecture.

Fundamental disagreements and party values

In a statement, the faction emphasised that discussions and differing views have always existed within the party. However, they drew a distinction between disputes over political tactics and disagreements regarding basic values and the state's strategic course.

Key principles of European Solidarity cited include a strong Ukrainian army, the Ukrainian language, an independent Ukrainian church, as well as Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO. The party stressed that these issues cannot be subject to bargaining, either within the country or during negotiations with Russia.

«Публічні позиції Олексія Гончаренка щодо завершення війни та майбутньої архітектури безпеки України розійшлися з позицією «Європейської Солідарності» та її ідеологічними засадами» (Oleksiy Honcharenko's public positions on ending the war and Ukraine's future security architecture have diverged from the position of European Solidarity and its ideological foundations), the faction's message reads.

European Solidarity noted that compromises may be part of the path to ending the war, but Ukraine's independence, its European future, issues of national identity, and the right to independently determine its own security system cannot be subject to compromise.

Attitude towards the authorities and prospects for peace

The party emphasised that the decision to expel does not negate the years of joint work with Honcharenko. However, they noted that party unity cannot be a formality if politicians have fundamentally different views on the future of the state.

Separately, European Solidarity stated that responsibility for Ukraine's negotiating position and diplomatic strategy currently lies with the authorities, which hold a majority. The politicians called on the authorities to launch a broad public discussion on a realistic path to a ceasefire and a just peace, as "resilience plans" and "declarations of power" no longer provide answers to these questions.

European Solidarity declared its readiness for a discussion on ending the war, security guarantees, and preventing new Russian aggression.

«Мир не може оплачуватися відмовою від того, заради чого і завдяки чому Україна вистояла у цій війні» (Peace cannot be paid for by renouncing what Ukraine stood up for and what enabled it to withstand this war), the party emphasised.
