Party prepares changes in regional council composition

European Solidarity intends to initiate the recall of two of its deputies. The list of candidates for removal includes Andriy Karpov, who holds a position in the Poltava City Council, and Khvicha Meparishvili. The latter was previously a People’s Deputy from the People’s Front, and currently represents the European Solidarity faction in the Kyiv Regional Council.

Involvement in the 'Care' programme case

The reason for this decision is a criminal case in which Meparishvili is named. It concerns possible misuse of funds allocated under the social support programme 'Care'. According to available information, the case involves over 3 million UAH that may have been directed to the benefit of deputies’ relatives.

Who else is involved in the proceedings

Four other deputies of the Kyiv Regional Council are also named in this case:

  • Yevheniia Polikarpova (For the Future party);
  • Stanislav Polishchuk (For the Future);
  • Oleksandr Polyarush (Servant of the People);
  • Yuriy Savchuk (For the Future).

It is separately noted that Yevheniia Polikarpova is linked to the controversial developer Georgiy Birkadze.

Party leadership’s position

Meparishvili’s relative, Georgiy Tsagareishvili, who heads the Kyiv Regional Organisation of European Solidarity, is trying to defend him. However, the prospect of recalling the deputy is linked to the criminal case, although the fact of being named in the proceedings does not imply proven guilt.
