Link between electricity and water supply

Authorities in the capital warn of the possibility of repeated prolonged interruptions in water supply. The main cause of such situations is cited as instability in the electricity grid, which directly affects the operation of pumping equipment.

This view was expressed by expert Stanislav Ignatiev, who commented on recent disruptions to water supply in Kyiv.

How long does restoration take

According to the specialist's estimates, if a pump group remains without power for 8–10 hours, the process of restoring water to consumers becomes complicated. Additional time is required to fully restore the functioning of the water supply system after such a downtime.

Why water may not arrive immediately

Thus, even after the lights are turned on, residents may have to wait for water for an additional period. This is due to the need for a technical start-up of the pumps and the establishment of working pressure in the mains. The direct risk factor remains the lack of stable electrical power during the time necessary for restoration.
