South Korea wants to repatriate North Korean prisoners of war

South Korea has expressed its intention to repatriate North Korean army soldiers who have been taken prisoner by Ukraine. This was announced by South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lee Jae-woon.

In his statement, the diplomat emphasised that, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, all North Korean citizens are also considered citizens of South Korea. This position reflects Seoul's fundamental principle regarding the reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

The ministry spokesperson did not specify details of potential negotiations or repatriation procedures, but noted the importance of adhering to international norms and the rights of prisoners of war.
