Escalation of violence during protest actions

The situation in France is intensifying against the backdrop of protests organised against rising living costs and issues with the provision of public services. In some cities, protests have turned into clashes between demonstrators and security forces. According to available information, the protests have taken on a violent character, and instances of looting premium brand stores have been recorded.

Looting in luxury stores

During the unrest, groups of people damaged the display windows and smashed the windows of stores belonging to world-famous brands, including Rolex and Louis Vuitton. After breaking in, the offenders took valuable goods from the shelves. Moments of windows being smashed and property being carried out were captured on camera.

It is reported that similar incidents have been recorded in Paris and Lyon. In the Presqu'île district of Lyon, stores of the brands Louis Vuitton and The North Face were also targeted by looters. Meanwhile, claims of an attack on a Rolex store have not yet been confirmed.

Official data on the consequences

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu released statistics regarding the events. According to his data, 1,200 people were detained across the country, and 150 police officers were injured. Security forces intervened in the events, using tear gas and water cannons. Many commercial premises suffered damage as a result of these disturbances.
