Reaction to foreign comments
During his visit to Qatar, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed frustration over statements by foreign senior officials concerning the mass protests in the country. According to BFMTV, the head of state described these comments as "unacceptable and stupid".
In a conversation with journalists in Doha, Macron explained that he does not see clear foreign interference in the events, but noted the presence of external manipulation of information. "In my opinion, there is no clear foreign interference in the events that took place, but there is foreign manipulation of information, which led to unacceptable and nonsensical comments from many, including foreign leaders," he stated.
Fabricated visual materials
The French leader mentioned the existence of images generated using artificial intelligence. "We have seen images created by artificial intelligence showing scenes that never happened in France," Macron added.
According to the President, those who speak negatively about France at present are people who do not love the country. "These people annoy me!... We have difficulties, but we are dealing with them methodically, with respect, determination and firmness (...) but one should not say just anything," the head of state emphasised.
Meeting with intelligence services
Emmanuel Macron announced that a meeting with representatives of the intelligence services will take place on 22 October, Thursday. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu and the relevant ministers will also participate in this meeting. The aim of the event is to obtain a detailed report on the protests that took place on 17 October.
