Hungary is holding up Ukraine's EU accession

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that the negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union are being delayed due to Hungary's position.

"Мы ощущаем особую ответственность за этот процесс. Конечно, нам хотелось бы открыть один, а возможно, и два переговорных кластера, но, к сожалению, решение блокирует наш давний друг и когда-то союзник — Венгрия" (We feel a particular responsibility for this process. Of course, we would like to open one, or possibly two, negotiation clusters, but unfortunately, the decision is being blocked by our long-time friend and former ally — Hungary), Sikorski noted following the meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers in Brussels.

Hungary's position remains unchanged

Budapest has repeatedly voiced complaints against Ukraine, citing issues related to the rights of the Hungarian minority in Zakarpattia. At the same time, many European diplomats view such a position as a tool of political pressure, rather than a genuine concern about the situation.
