Oligarch Viktor Vekselberg has received $1bn from Promsvyazbank. The funds are required to settle loans owed by Renova to Western investors.

The billionaire recently came under sanctions, which led to significant financial losses. Vekselberg is now demanding that the Russian government restructure Renova’s debt obligations of €820m and 300bn rubles, as well as impose prohibitive tariffs on competitors of the Novocheboksarsk Khimprom plant and the Ural Turbine Plant.
