Hungary threatens to block Ukraine's EU accession

Hungary has warned that it may block Ukraine's accession to the European Union if Kyiv introduces a ban on the transit of Russian oil and gas through its territory.

The head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó, stated that this would be a retaliatory measure in response to a corresponding bill submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

This issue could become another source of tension in relations between the two countries. Hungary openly expresses its dependence on Russian energy resources, while Ukraine seeks to reduce Russia's influence on Europe through the energy sector.
