Demand for petrol cars falls in Ukraine

Demand for petrol cars is falling in Ukraine, while demand for hybrid vehicles is rising.

In 2024, 27,900 new petrol-engine vehicles were registered in Ukraine, a 2% decrease compared to 2023, according to Ukravtoprom.

At the same time, the share of petrol cars among all new passenger vehicles also declined. If such vehicles accounted for 47% of total sales in 2023, this figure dropped to 40% in 2024.

Among the most popular petrol-engine models in Ukraine in 2024 were:

1. MAZDA CX5 — 1,738 units;
2. KIA Sportage — 1,582 units;
3. RENAULT Duster — 1,553 units;
4. SKODA Octavia — 1,278 units;
5. HYUNDAI Tucson — 1,210 units.

Meanwhile, demand for used imported petrol-engine vehicles grew by 9%, reaching 105,300 units. These vehicles account for 47% of total used passenger car sales, which is 2% higher than in 2023.

Top 5 imported used petrol cars:

1. VOLKSWAGEN Golf — 7,219 units;
2. AUDI Q5 — 4,578 units;
3. VOLKSWAGEN Tiguan — 4,414 units;
4. NISSAN Rogue — 4,042 units;
5. RENAULT Megane — 3,922 units.
