Explosion at chemical plant in China

Today in China, another powerful explosion was heard. The incident occurred at a chemical plant in Shandong Province.

The shockwave shattered windows in homes within a one-kilometre radius of the epicentre. A fire broke out on the plant's premises after the explosion.

Authorities are currently evacuating the population of Huantai County in Zibo City, which is closest to the site of the tragedy.

The number of casualties resulting from the explosion is being established. At present, around ten employees of the facility are missing.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Firefighters have so far been unable to get close to the epicentre.
