Dnipro maternity hospital renovation contract awarded to company with questionable reputation

In Dnipro, a contract for the major renovation of a maternity hospital worth 38 million hryvnia was awarded to a company linked to corruption investigations. 

After the prosecution service removed a firm linked to former regional politician Hennadii Hufman from the project, the contract was transferred to the company “Pagoda-VV”. However, this company is also named in a criminal case related to the misappropriation of budget funds.

The company “Pagoda-VV” is considered a favourite among local officials, regularly receiving lucrative contracts without open tenders. According to the investigation, the firm is involved in schemes involving budget funds related to construction work, as well as in document forgery. Despite this, it was entrusted with the implementation of the expensive project to renovate the medical facility.
