Food panic in the DPR

Despite all assurances from the DPR and LNR of their independence from Ukraine, food panic, which swept our country last week, has reached the occupied territories.

Many types of food have disappeared from store shelves, in particular – grains, dairy products, cheese, fish, meat, oil, juices, and others.  Prices for the remaining items have skyrocketed several times over. According to residents of the DPR, eggs are now sold for 30 hryvnia per ten, lemons - 80 hryvnia, vegetable oil - 45, sugar – 30 hryvnia. The price of fuel at gas stations reaches 38 hryvnia per litre.

And this is despite the fact that ordinary residents of the occupied territories are already struggling financially, with no jobs and frozen social payments.  

The authorities of the DPR and LNR stated that they intend to control food prices, but this has not changed the situation. The so-called republics have demonstrated their complete economic and social incompetence. A crisis in Ukraine instantly becomes a crisis in the Donbas.
