Ukraine set to open several airports in 2025

Ukraine is preparing to open several airports in 2025, but the implementation of this plan depends on a political decision. This statement was made by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

He emphasised that discussions on this topic had already taken place on multiple occasions. However, the opening of airports is only possible if certain conditions are met.

"For this, either the end of the war or a significant strengthening of air defence systems, of which we currently have insufficient numbers, is required. Therefore, one should not yet count on the rapid resumption of airport operations," Sadovyi explained.

Despite the difficult situation in the country, the issue of restoring air traffic remains relevant, as it is not only a strategic but also an economic necessity. However, security plays a key role in this matter, which cannot currently be guaranteed in full.

The decision to open airports will be made taking into account the development of the situation at the front and the level of protection of Ukraine's airspace.
