According to former head of Ukraine's Gas Transmission System Operator Serhiy Makohon, gas reserves in the country have reached their lowest level ever. These figures are cause for concern, as Ukraine faces the threat of fuel shortages amid winter cold and a complex energy situation.

Naftogaz initiates gas imports

The situation demands immediate action: the Naftogaz group will begin importing gas into the country from February this year to meet demand. Makohon noted that such measures are necessary to maintain energy stability, especially given the intensifying crisis.

Gas prices soar: imports become more expensive

In the summer, the company could purchase gas at a price of $300-350 per 1,000 cubic metres, but under current conditions, the price of imported gas has jumped to $500-550 for the same volume.
