Ukraine strikes Engels oil depot again with drones

On the night of 14 January, drones struck several targets in Russia, including the city of Engels in Saratov Oblast. Local authorities and pro-government Telegram channels reported that an industrial facility was damaged in the attack.

Roman Busargin, the governor of Saratov Oblast, confirmed that the target of the attack was a facility in Engels. According to him, emergency services are operating in an enhanced mode, while educational institutions in Saratov and Engels have temporarily switched to remote learning. The governor did not disclose details regarding the nature of the damage or the specific target of the attack.

However, local residents reported that the drones likely targeted an oil depot, which had already been struck on 8 January. Reports of a fire at the oil depot appeared on social media, although the scale of the blaze remains unknown. One witness managed to capture the moment of the attack.

In addition, the Kazan Orgsintez plant in the capital of Tatarstan was also hit by drones that same night. The facility, which produces plastics, also sustained significant damage. Preliminary data suggests that the strikes may have been directed at liquefied gas depots, causing a major fire.

Information on the aftermath of the attacks continues to be clarified, while Russian authorities are strengthening security measures at strategically important facilities.

Nikolaevsky Vane, meanwhile, noted that Ukraine has created drones capable of carrying KABs and mines. It was these drones that attacked the oil depot in Engels overnight.
