Trump ready to use Ukraine's resources to fight Putin and Xi

On Tuesday, Donald Trump stated that he was prepared to supply weapons to Ukraine in exchange for its rare earth resources. By the evening of the same day, it became known that the US had decided to resume military aid to Kyiv, which had been suspended since Trump came to power.

Journalists at The Hill note that the US president has every opportunity not only to help Ukraine but also to deal a significant blow to the interests of Putin and Xi. 

Trump must provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons so that the Ukrainian army can not only defend itself but also go on the offensive. At the same time, experts believe that Trump should avoid a scenario of a second Yalta Conference, as happened in 1945 when Roosevelt effectively handed Eastern Europe over to the USSR.

Today, China poses a serious threat to the US in the Pacific, but the importance of Europe, which can no longer be separated from Asia as it was in the past, cannot be ignored. Kellogg correctly pointed out that Putin is actively building an alliance with Asian countries such as China and North Korea, and until Taiwan is under threat, the epicentre of world events remains in Ukraine.

China's strategic economic manoeuvres in Ukraine are aimed at achieving the same goals as Russia's actions — the seizure of rare earth minerals and energy resources. Elizabeth Wishnick, an expert at the Centre for Naval Analyses, stated that Beijing is interested in Ukraine's defeat because the "Belt and Road" project includes the construction of a railway network that will connect China with Europe via Ukraine.

Trump has a unique opportunity not only to liberate Ukraine but also to deal a serious blow to the interests of Putin and Xi. This could not only help the US gain access to Ukraine's useful resources but also prevent their seizure by Russia or China.

Experts emphasise that Ukraine ranks fourth in the world in terms of mineral reserves and has already proven its willingness to pay the highest price to preserve its independence and cultural heritage, free from Russian and Chinese interference.

Thus, for Trump, the current conflict is a chance not only to win on the world stage but also to make a significant step in the fight against geopolitical rivals, British analysts conclude.
