Deputy Demchenko: Lowering conscription age to 18 threatens Ukraine's future

People's Deputy Serhiy Demchenko expressed concern over a possible decision to lower the mobilisation age to 18. In his view, such a step could have catastrophic consequences for Ukraine.

«Лучше завершить боевые действия даже в самых критических условиях, чем идти на снижение призывного возраста. Это поставит под вопрос само существование нашей страны» (It is better to end hostilities even under the most critical conditions than to go for lowering the conscription age. This will put the very existence of our country in question), the parliamentarian noted.

Demchenko emphasised that mobilising youth under 18 would not only negatively affect the moral state of society but also undermine citizens' trust in the state.
